INTRODUCTION

Dal Sanders is my father. This is a snippet of the biography of my Father's life. At this point I don't know if he wrote other diaries. However, I still have things to go through and am hoping to find more so this can be added to. 

Right now this diary has entries from September 23, 1987 to January 30, 1999.

It is important to note the entries in this diary were being written during a time when my father was also writing the book of his life titled 'And That's the Way It Was'.

      My name as it appears at the beginning of this journal may perhaps require some explanation. The name that I knew and was addressed by when a child was Quincy Dalton Sanders. When I volunteered for duty in the United States Navy in 1947 I discovered that I was listed on my birth certificate as Wentsel Dalton Sanders. Therefore, I suppose the latter could be considered to be my legal name.     I was born 13 Dec. 1927 to Alonzo Washington Sanders and Mary Wiley Sanders, on or in a cabin on a log raft at the confluence of Little River with Catahoula Lake, Rogers, LaSalle Parish, La.     I would like to interject here that there is a class of people considered "dirt poor." DEDICATION

 This diary is dedicated to the grandchildren and expanded family of my father's. May they see his life as an inspiration in survival against many odds, a guide to knowledge and wisdom, and an example of deep abiding love. It is being placed into the hands of Jaimee (Jenkins) Weatherill. She is my cousin, daughter of my mothers youngest sister. Ann Schreiber. Once any of his writing is with her she will own it.  I leave this with Jaimee as she is an accomplished author and the one person I know who will have these pages available should my own son wish to have access to it.
